Canine Good Citizen (CGC) Program

AKC’s Canine Good Citizen (CGC) Program is one of the most rapidly growing programs in the American Kennel Club.

The Program is designed to reward dogs that have good manners at home, in the community and in the presence of people and other dogs. All dogs who pass the 10 part test administered by an approved CGC Evaluator are eligible to receive a certificate from the American Kennel Club.

Many dog owners choose CGC testing as the first step in training their dogs. It is a good foundation for other AKC activities such as Obedience and Rally. We recommend you and your dog take the CGC test after you have completed the Beginners Course.

Your dog does not have to be registered with the AKC to participate in this program.
